The second make of the SewMyStyle Sewalong!
This time it was the Saunio Cardigan of Named Clothing. It is my first try with the Named patterns, and to be honest I am a bit intimidated by the patterns. They are very hip and have a lot of constructive details, and I always consider them out of my league (read: comfort zone).
The same with the Saunio Cardigan: a short but boxy/ oversized cardigan. Very simple, and could be elegant with a thin, very long hipster girl who likes to play with her silhouet. Everything I am not 🙂
(#momcore of the non hipster kind is more me)
But I tried the Saunio Cardigan (a heck why not) and I was pleasantly surprised. It kinda suits me!
Woohoo!
Fabric is some coupon I found at De Stoffenloods (it’s located next to my work. OMG. It’s a good thing I work together with my boyfriend so I’m not tempted to visit it every lunchbreak. It would be too obvious, gheghe)
It’s a quilted not too stretchy fabric with glitters in it! Very hard to capture on camera, so you have to take my word for it.
It was my first make on my serger. And I had So.Much.Fun!
Lazy Sewer
I am a lazy sewer: if it’s not really necessary (in my opinion) I won’t do it. But now I did something the pattern didn’t call for: I topstitched the neckline.
Ok, fine I admit it’s not that big of deal in the real world, but you know: #lazysewer.
First I thought I needed a closure/snap/hook&eye or something, but after some reconsideration I decided not to. It looks good without and is the most flattering.
I made size 38/42 and it is a quit roomy cardigan. But the arms are good, it’s just the body.
Here are some pictures! I think I could haved sized down, but then again, the arms would be too tight, I think. But for now I am very pleased with my first serger/locker- and out-of-my-comfort-zone make.
Especially when I’m sitting (at my desk/at dinner / at whatever) it’s a really nice (almost) suitstylish cardigan. But standing/ moving I stil find it boxy and not to flattering. But.. I DO wear it. (i know: i’m weird)
So #sewmystyle for the win!
Did you make the Saunio Cardigan yet? What are your thoughts of this cardigan?
It looks gorgeous lovely & definitely suits you. Well done x
Thank you Jessica! It was really fun to make, so I think I will be making more of them 🙂
It looks fantastic! Did you use interfacing as well? Or just the fashion fabric?
Thank you Nikki!
I only used the fashion fabric, it was already sturdy enough.
Are you making one yourself too?
